The surging demand for fish in Kenya presents a promising opportunity for economic growth through the aquaculture and mariculture sectors. However, despite their potential, these sectors remain largely untapped by young men and women seeking employment and work opportunities.
Recognising this untapped potential, the Mastercard Foundation is joining forces with Farm Africa and partners to build thriving, dynamic aquaculture and mariculture sectors.
150,000
sustainable, dignified jobs will be generated for young women and men, persons with disabilities and internally displaced persons over the five-year project.
This programme is being implemented across six counties in Kenya, namely Busia, Homa Bay, Kakamega, Kilifi, Kisumu and Siaya.
Farm Africa is working with six consortium partners: Aquarech, Echo Network Africa, Hydro Victoria, Lattice Aqua, Livingwood Consultants and Ramogi Institute of Advanced Technology (RIAT).
