Our people
Life at Farm Africa
The vast majority of our staff are from eastern Africa and are involved in delivering our diverse range of projects working with farmers across Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and the DR Congo.
Farm Africa is an international charity working to build a resilient rural Africa where people and the environment thrive.
Just as our projects vary, so does our expertise. We are proud to have a team brimming with experts, from agriculture to gender to coffee specialists.
Many of our colleagues have extensive academic knowledge and practical experience in their fields and are typically from the local area, can speak the local language, and have a deep understanding of the local context.
What it’s like to work at Farm Africa
At Farm Africa, there is a wide variety of average working days. Our project coordinators visit rural communities at least three times a week, working with farmers on each step of the project, delivering training sessions in anything from climate-smart agriculture to access to finance and discussing issues they are facing.
They meet with local governments to boost their capacity, influence policy and ensure our projects’ activities are sustainable long-term.
Our monitoring, learning and evaluation team is dedicated to drilling down into the quality of our programmes. They review their efficiency, effectiveness, sustainability and data quality and identify lessons and key learnings, ensuring we can be proud of our projects.
For our technical team, days are spent providing expert knowledge and developing ways to collaborate with different partners, while our funding teams work with institutional donors, companies, trusts and foundations to raise much-needed funds to make our work happen.
